The Lanai Community Health Center successfully held the first workshop of its Lanai Health Careers Pathways (LHCP) Program from April 19 to May 24, 2023, and is proud to present its first cohort: Giyana Agliam, Leihiwa Siliga, Ckristian Oliva, Hannah Mae Lee, and Hershey-Lei Manuel.

The LCHP program aims to encourage and support Lanai residents on their path to becoming future healthcare professionals and consists of sessions introducing healthcare careers to participants who have the heart to serve Lanai community and the potential to get into their desired health career. Each session was a one-hour weekly activity at the LCHC clinic and run for six weeks from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm on Wednesdays. Some of the topics covered in the workshop included the rewarding nature of healthcare careers, some tips and strategies in the application processes for scholarships and admissions, basic clinical skills, mentoring process, and the challenges in the local healthcare system in Hawaii.

The participants collectively expressed their gratitude to this Program as they learned a lot and recommended that the Program continue to help other young residents of Lanai to pursue health careers.

We are very thankful to Manele Koele Charitable Fund (MKCF) for their financial support to make this Program successful in its first cohort!
